Push Begins For Children's Hospital
Nearly 300 area citizens gathered at Oak Hall School Monday night to share their concern that Gainesville does not yet have a free-standing children's hospital.
The community forum was hosted by the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation, established six months ago by Horst and Luisa Ferrero after their 3-year-old son Sebastian died after a series of medical errors during a routine test at the pediatric clinic of Shands at the University of Florida.
The Ferreros are convinced that if their son had been treated in a facility designed for children, by people who dealt only with children, his death could have been prevented. |
