STUDENT ARRESTED FOR BATHROOM BOMB THREAT
On 05-05-08, the School Resource Officer at North Marion High School responded to a bomb threat a student discovered in a boy’s bathroom. The threat was written in pencil claiming the building would “blow up on 05-07-08.” K-9 and bomb squad searched the building and found no sign of any explosive device. Detectives responded to the scene to follow up after a teacher reported hearing students talking about the threat. A student witness identified Mark Cannon as the suspect after hearing him say he was going to be expelled and wanted to “blow up the school.” Detectives questioned students and teachers regarding Cannon’s whereabouts during the time the threat was reported at approximately 3:00 p.m. An investigation revealed Cannon had left his classroom during that time on two occasions. When questioned, Cannon denied the alleged threat but was taken into custody based on probable cause and witness’ testimonies. Arrested: Mark Cannon, W/M, 10-31-91 12295 NE 227th Pl. Ft. McCoy, Fl 32134 Charges: Threat to Throw, Project, Discharge Bomb – 2 Counts
